Squirrel Ability in Grow a Garden
The Squirrel pet has a passive acorn collection ability that activates near woody plants and tree-type crops in your garden. When positioned near these crops, it provides a bonus interaction that can slightly accelerate growth cycles or add minor value bonuses depending on current game mechanics.
The Squirrel is particularly noted for its connection to woody plants in Grow a Garden. If your garden focuses on bamboo, beanstalk, or other tree-adjacent crops, the Squirrel becomes more valuable than its B tier rating suggests in isolation.
Outside of woody plant setups, the Squirrel does not apply mutations directly and does not provide cooldown support. For general mutation farming or high-value crop builds, S and A tier pets like Kitsune, Disco Bee or Queen Bee will outperform it significantly.
How to Get the Squirrel Pet
The Squirrel pet is obtained through standard egg hatching in Grow a Garden. Unlike event-exclusive pets such as the Kitsune or T-Rex, the Squirrel is available from the base egg pool year-round.
Squirrel vs Other B Tier Pets
| Pet | Tier | Ability | Hunger | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 🐿️ Squirrel | B | Acorn passive near woody plants | 25K | Woody plant gardens |
| 🐾 Capybara | B | Nearby pets do not lose hunger | 20K | Multi-pet builds |
| 🐜 Giant Ant | B | 10% chance to duplicate harvested fruit | 25K | High-yield harvests |
| 🦦 Sea Otter | B | Auto-waters nearest plant every 30s | 20K | Passive irrigation |
| 🦉 Owl | B | 1.25x XP to all equipped pets | 15K | Early pet leveling |
Among B tier pets, the Capybara is generally more universally useful because it prevents hunger loss for all nearby pets, making it valuable in any multi-pet setup. The Squirrel is more niche but has its place in woody plant focused gardens.
